Free Online BPM & Key Finder
Free Online BPM & Key Finder is free to use on ALSBKIN. If it is useful to you, you can also visit the ALSBKIN YouTube channel and subscribe to support the independent music and tools project.
SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNELEstimate a song's BPM, main musical key, Camelot key and tonal changes directly in your browser. BPM uses true spectral flux and tempogram analysis, while key detection uses an HPCP-like chroma model with tuning, bass/root and temporal smoothing.
AUDIO TOOLSHow it works
1. Select an audio file.
2. The tool analyzes tempo and harmonic content locally in your browser.
3. Press Play or SPACE to listen to the song.
4. Drag the white playhead or click anywhere on the waveform to move through the song.
5. Watch the current-key estimate update during playback and review the detected key changes in chronological order.
BPM is estimated with true spectral flux, onset peaks, a tempogram, beat-grid validation and half-time / double-time checks. Low confidence means the rhythm evidence is conflicting.
Note: BPM and musical-key detection are estimates. Complex arrangements, tempo changes, modulation, sparse percussion or ambiguous harmony can reduce accuracy.
Free BPM Detector and Musical Key Finder
Use this free online BPM and key finder to estimate a track's tempo, main major or minor key, Camelot notation and key changes throughout the song. The waveform player tracks the current key and the timeline lists consolidated tonal sections in chronological order.

Estimating tempo and musical key
Estimate tempo, main musical key, Camelot notation and tonal changes from an audio file using browser-based analysis. The result is an analytical estimate rather than an absolute measurement, so unusual rhythm, modulation or ambiguous harmony can affect confidence.
When this tool is useful
BPM and key detection can speed up DJ preparation, remix planning, mashups and harmonic experimentation. Automatic analysis is an estimate: syncopation, live drums, key changes, modal harmony and sparse arrangements can confuse any algorithm.
Practical limits and quality checks
Use the detected result as a starting point, then verify by ear or against a trusted reference when precision matters. Half-time and double-time BPM readings are common, and closely related major/minor keys can sometimes produce similar confidence values.
Privacy and responsible use
Analysis runs on the audio supplied to the page. Use material you are allowed to analyse and treat the displayed tempo and key as an estimate rather than authoritative metadata, especially for live, rubato or harmonically ambiguous music.
Frequently asked questions
Can browser audio processing change sound quality?
BPM and key detection normally analyse the signal rather than alter it, so the source recording itself is not degraded by the analysis. Any separate export function should still be checked according to its chosen format.
Why can results differ between browsers or devices?
Detection accuracy varies with rhythm, arrangement, tuning and recording quality. Tracks with a steady beat and clear harmony are easier to analyse than spoken audio, free-time performances, key changes or heavily percussive passages.
